Goal
The goal of the Haliburton County FoodNet Networking Group is to ensure all residents of Haliburton County are well nourished and have access to healthy food that promotes and maintains good health. It is imperative that all residents of Haliburton County be able to access food in a way that upholds basic human dignity and that the food is nutritionally adequate, personally acceptable and culturally appropriate.


Everyone has the right to be well nourished and have access to healthy food to promote and maintain good health. A sustainable food system that maximizes self-reliance and social justice is necessary to reach this goal.

In summary, Haliburton County FoodNet members support each other to assist our county in moving towards community food security*.

*Community Food Security exists when all community residents obtain a safe, personally acceptable, nutritious diet through a sustainable food system that maximizes healthy choices, community self-reliance and equal access for everyone.


Objectives/ Strategies

·        To be a community based network working towards community food security for Haliburton County

·        To support each member’s programs by sharing success stories and assisting with challenges

·        To adhere to practices of food safety and healthy eating guidelines

·        To provide residents/clients with the most nutritious, safe and personally acceptable food

·        To build personal skills, strengthen community development & create supportive environments related to healthy food
